The art of representing forms and figures on a surface by means of lines executed by hand or digitally with a pencil or stylus.
Overview
This can be developed on paper or via a technological interface such as a phone, tablet, laptop, or computer.
Notes for Judges ● Each contestant will have 3 minutes to present their project and then the judging co-hort will have 5 minutes for any follow up questions and quick deliberations before the next contestant. Each contestant will only have an allocated time frame of 10 minutes. ● You should not under any circumstances engage with the students before or after the competition until the Awards Ceremony has concluded. ● You must provide honest constructive feedback for each contestant that you are judging. ● Scoring Rubric: ○ 95-100 - Qualifies as a Gold Medalist ○ 90+Up - Qualifies as a Silver Medalist ○ 85+Up - Qualifies as a Bronze Medalist ■ Please take heed that the identifying word here is “Qualifies”. There can be multiple contestants that can qualify as gold medalist and if that’s the case the highest score will receive the gold, and silver and bronze will be allocated to the next two highest scores. ■ In the event the highest score is a 90 then there is no gold medalist and there’s only a possibility for a silver and bronze medalist as long as the remaining scores land within the 85+Up region.
Requirements
1. Single Submission: Only one project can be submitted per contestant.
2. Easel Provided: The national office will provide easels for display only at the national competition. None provided locally.
3. Oral Presentation: Contestants must deliver a concise, 3-minute oral presentation explaining their artistic methods, techniques, and inspiration.
4. Mounting and Matting: Mounting and matting of the artwork is strongly recommended.
5. Size Limit: The submitted artwork must not exceed 36 inches by 48 inches. Framing is optional.
6. Image Submission: Gold medalists advancing to the national competition level will need to submit digital images of their entries of installation reference.
Contestants Will Be Judged By The Following Criteria:
• Composition (20 pts)
• Line/Form (20 pts)
• Presentation (20 pts)
• Technique/Craftsmanship (20 pts)
• Theme (20 pts)

Point Deduction
-1 to -5 In the event the student presentation exceeds 3 mins one point will be deducted for every minute over up to five points.
